Thinking about Value

In having the privilege of facilitating hundreds of communications team retreats and workshops, one of the exercises that consistently seems to generate the most powerful results is to lead a group through a Value Proposition exercise.

It’s a simple exercise that challenges a group to think about the true, unique value they contribute to their organizations. Often, it’s the first time a team has had an opportunity to step back from the daily grind and take stock of the essential value of their function.

The analysis leads to a new sense of clarity, a deeper shared understanding of value and a heightened sense of satisfaction in the contributions made.

The first and essential step in getting your contributions recognized by senior management is to truly understand that value on an individual and team level. Why not try it out at your next staff meeting? Get started with the Results Map Value Proposition Worksheet.
